Industrial and Engineering Technology

What is Industrial and Engineering Technology?

Interested in Industrial and Engineering Technology?  You should be…With so many pathways, there’s something for everyone!

According to ThinkTV Network, Engineering is the process of envisioning, inventing, creating and building the world around us. By using math and science, Engineers can solve real world problems and create new and more efficient ways of doing things. Engineers improve the lives of everyone.

Possible Career Pathways:

  • Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineers - design, manufacture and operate aircraft, spacecraft, missiles and rockets
  • Biomedical Engineers - analyze and design solutions to problems in biology and medicine, with the goal of improving the quality and effectiveness of patient care
  • Mechanical Engineers - design, build and test machines, engines and other mechanical devices
  • Chemical Engineers - design equipment and processes for large-scale chemical manufacturing, plan and test methods of manufacturing products and treating byproducts, and supervise production
  • Civil Engineers - design and supervise large construction projects, including roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and systems for water supply and sewage treatment
  • Environmental Engineers - use the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineers - research, design, develop, test, or supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use
  • Computer Software Engineers - apply computer science, engineering, and math to design, develop, and test software
  • Computer Hardware Engineers - research, design, develop, and test computer equipment such as chips, circuit boards, or routers. By solving complex problems in computer hardware, these engineers create rapid advances in computer technology
  • Nuclear Engineers - research and develop the processes, instruments, and systems used to get benefits from nuclear energy and radiation
  • Mineral and Geological Engineers - design mines for the safe and efficient removal of minerals, such as coal and metals, for manufacturing and utilities
  • Agricultural Engineers - also known as biological and agricultural engineers—work on a variety of activities. These activities range from aquaculture (raising food, such as fish, that thrive in water) to land farming to forestry; from developing biofuels to improving conservation; from planning animal environments to finding better ways to process food
  • Industrial Engineers - Industrial engineers find ways to eliminate wastefulness in production processes. They devise efficient ways to use workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or provide a service.
  • Transportation and Logisitics includes transportation of passengers as well as cargo, warehousing and storage of goods, scenic and sightseeing transportation and support activities.
  • Speciality Trades Contractors are workers whose primary activity is performing specific activities: pouring concrete, site preparation, plumbing, painting, and electrical work.
  • Manufacturing are workers engaged in the mechanical, physical, or chemical transformation of materials, substances, or components, into new products.
